Red-letter day

The day started out inauspiciously. Because of my med combo of antihistamines, benzodiazepines, and Mucinex, I fell asleep at 7pm last night. Therefore, I woke up at midnight and was awake for a few hours clutching the couch because my meds had worn off (vertigo, begone). Fell asleep again from 3a to 7a and woke up feeling strangely refreshed and only slightly vertiginous. Score 1.

Then I chatted with two friends on Facebook. One chat netted a brunch invitation with some of my favorite peeps (score 2), and another started collaboration on a publication adventure that interests me with a colleague I like (score 3).

Then my Mac told me a software update was available, and voila! The Mac App Store appeared before schedule (score 4). It looks pretty slick. The prices are a letdown, though; I'd hoped that they'd be lower, more similar to the App Store prices for iOS devices. I guess they're lower for the devs even now, though, since Apple's taking their 30% cut. My main concern currently is that free trials will disappear. I like the App Store and will likely transfer my purchasing habits there, but I hope that Mac apps don't get entirely sandboxed. I buy a lot of software, but I extensively use the free trials. I'm not likely to spend $40 for something I haven't even had a chance to try.

And I have a pretty fun day ahead with my boyfriend that includes even MORE friends. It's shaping up to be the best day I've had in a while. Do these things normally happen during the daytime? I'm usually not awake to seize the day, I guess.
