Health care is frustrating

Today my dad received good care other than an infuriating lack of coordination. He got his port and first round of chemo. His nurses acted like nurses. He seems to be feeling better. But he asked, "I'm still in the hospital for conditions they caused, right?" Yeah. But it's hard to transfer if you're too sick to go POV but not sick enough to need transfer to a higher level of care. I need to get home and rest. I've been going 100 mph for a few weeks now and I'm going to become ill and of no use to anyone. This experience has brought into sharp focus how illness and our health care system affect patients and families in the larger picture, which I've rarely had occasion to see. I feel I'll be a more knowledgeable and compassionate nurse because of it.
