iTunes magazine subscription irritation

Apple is starting to feel Microsoft-y in some of their complicated unreasonable bullshit. I don't like that. I'm a fangirl, for god's sake. I want all this money I spend on their shiny hardware to be WORTH IT. Here's my latest peeve. I bought my first Newsstand magazine issue, just ONE ISSUE. It was the worthy SCO magazine, but I wanted only the one issue. A month later I got an e-mail saying my monthly subscription had been renewed. I was a little annoyed because I thought I had just bought the one issue, but I liked the magazine so I took the path of least resistance and went to download the newest issue. No dice. It wanted me to purchase it again even though my subscription had been automatically renewed. I like ScreenCastsOnline, but not enough to pay for it twice.

Turns out, when you buy a single issue, it renews automatically unless you wade through an unintuitive mess to cancel autorenewals. I HATE OPT-OUT SYSTEMS. But if it's GOING to autorenew, I want it to work, at least.

It's a terrible system.
